Details of the trip to Balmoral Castle

First, I collected guest from central Glasgow, Scotland and then embarked on a trip as follows:

Drove north into central Scotland, past Stirling Castle and the world’s tallest hedge at Meikleour. Then through Blairgowrie and productive farmlands to progressively higher elevations of the Cairngorms. Here we stopped for refreshments at Glenshee Ski Centre.

Next, on to Braemar, past Braemar Castle to our destination of Balmoral Castle. This building has been associated with the British Royal Family since the 1850s. Fortunately, the threatened rain held off and we are able to enjoy the gardens, River Dee and Highland landscapes.By coincidence, our arrival at Balmoral coincided with a rally of classic cars.

After about three hours at the castle we visited Crathie Kirk ( where the Royal Family worship). Then to the nearby burial-place of Queen Victoria’s famous servant, John Brown.
