Introduction
This evening, I am reprising a small group Speyside Whisky Tour.

Information on the Speyside Whisky Tour
This tour originated in Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital.
Weather conditions were, as predicted, consisting of strong winds and persistent rain although temperature was mild.
- First to Perth and Blairgowrie in central Scotland.
- Next, on north to Spittal of Glenshee where we stopped for lunch at the Ski Centre cafe. Here we noticed a light covering of snow on the higher mountains. At the higher altitudes we experienced very poor visibility due to low cloud cover.
- Next, on to Braemar, stopping briefly to photograph first Corgarff Castle then Braemar Castle, before moving on to track the River Dee along to the entrance to Balmoral Castle and Crathie Kirk both of which were not open to visitors.

Next, further north, along a single track road to our destination of Dufftown which is home to seven whisky distilleries, arriving in good time for our tour of Glenfiddich Distillery.
- At Glenfiddich we availed of an escorted tour which guided us through the entire malting, mashing, fermentation, distillation and maturation processes culminating in tastings of three single malts. Glenfiddich is in process of a major expansion which will lift annual spirit production from about 13m litres to nearer 20m litres.

- Finally, we drove to our lodgings at Grantown-on-Spey. Tomorrow, we visit another distillery.
