Introduction
This evening, I am reporting on Cathkin Park in Glasgow, Scotland. This site is a football (soccer) pitch with a long history, dating back to the early days of competitive football in Scotland.
Site at Crosshills, Glasgow, Scotland.

Information on the Football site.
Although currently a municipal park maintained by the Council, the site has a dishevelled, quasi-archaeological feel with extant terraces partly overgrown with vegetation. No goalposts are evident.
More information:
- May qualify as the oldest extant international football pitch in the world. Location of first Anglo-Scottish club final in 1902.
- An extended oval, in the Scottish tradition.
- Has been host to football matches since 1884.
- Originally home of Queens Park between 1884 and 1903 then Third Lanark until bankruptcy of latter club in 1967. Last professional match played at the site on April 25th 1967.
- Pitch is still used by amateur clubs, Hampden AFC and a reformed Third Lanark.
