This afternoon, I am reporting on the 143 acre Rouken Glen Park in south Glasgow, Scotland

Information on Rouken Glen Park

The popular open space offers a wide range of attractions and interests including:

• Wildlife (birds).

Video clip of mating swans

Grey Heron with lunch.

Waterfalls.

Geology– dating back 325m years.

Evidence of occupation by prehistoric man, from the Neolithic period, about 5000 years ago. The indentations are known as ‘cup marks’ and can fall within the definition of rock art.

Industrial history-ancient water powered mill

Doo’Cot– A 16th-19th century building to house pigeons or doves for food and eggs.

• Evidence of glaciation from >10,000 years ago.

Abundant parkland, which is popular with dog walkers.

Former boating pond, Now home for water birds.

Refreshment Facilities

There are cafe/restaurants at the Garden Centre and Boating Pond. Also, a burger bar type outlet which operates on a seasonal basis.
