Introduction
Yesterday, I visited the Blythe Scott Art Exhibition at Glasgow’s Annan Gallery.

Information on the Blythe Scott Art Exhibition at Glasgow’s Annan Gallery

The exhibition is called ‘Connection’. It explores the need for humans to connect with each other and places. Many of the paintings were inspired by Glasgow where Blythe was born. She is a graduate of the Glasgow School of Art.

After extensive time overseas Blythe now lives in the Scottish Borders. She also has connections with the East Neuk of Fife.

Blythe’s work is intended to allow the viewer to escape to a place outside of reality. This is where time of day, season or even a need for plausibility, melt away.

Texture and colour are central to Blythe’s work. She has increasingly experimented with metal leaf including gold..

Bright bold colour is central to Blythe’s work. This symbolic of the joy and beauty she wishes to share.

For Blyth, the creative process is ultimately about continuing to explore. This is alternative to what she already knows.
