Introduction
This evening, I am posting information on Glengoyne Distillery which is located in the Trossachs region. Location is about fifteen miles north of Glasgow and thirteen miles south of Aberfoyle. Apart from hiking (via the West Highland Way), motor transport is the only means of access.
Information on Glengoyne Distillery
Glengoyne is one of Scotland’s smaller whisky distilleries, with a capacity of 1.1m litres p.a. However the distillery attracts about 60, 000 visitors each year.

More information and facts:
- Located in the Trossachs region at Dumgoyne.
- Straddles the Highlands-Lowlands whisky region border. Spirit is distilled in the Highlands and matured in the Lowlands.
- Originally licensed in 1833.
- Has undergone three changes of ownership since establishment but remains in private hands.Now owned by Ian Macleod Distillers. Within the same group are Rosebank (Falkirk) and Tamdhu (Knockando, Speyside) distilleries.
- The distillery uses one, 3.8 ton semi-lauter mash tun, six Oregon pine washbacks, one wash still and two spirit stills.
- Maturation undertaken in ex-sherry casks.
- Range consists of 10, 12, 15,18 21 and 25-year-old single malts.
- Visitors are offered seven different tours and tastings, ranging from 45 minutes to 5 hours in duration.
