Introduction
This evening, I am posting information on the coastal village of Broadford on the Isle of Skye in Scotland’s Inner Hebrides.

Information on Broadford
The Isle of Skye, off Scotland’s north-west coast and in the Inner Hebrides, is an extremely popular tourist destination. Broadford is the second largest community on Skye with it’s economy heavily dependent on tourism. Population is about 620 persons.
Broadford is well positioned for tourists, being located near the southern tip of Skye. There is a road link with the Highlands via Kyle of Lochalsh Broadford is about eighty-seven miles S.W. of Inverness in the Highlands. Kyle of Lochalsh also has a rail link. Travellers from south and central Scotland can reach Broadford via the ferry to Armadale from Mallaig.
The name is a self-evident descriptive term being a translation form the Gaelic an Ath Lethan.
Facilities at Broadford include:
- A wide range of accommodations.
- Supermarket.
- Fuel
- Art and Craft shops
- Restaurants.
- Hospital

Interests and activities in and around Broadford include geology, marine wildlife, hiking, climbing, boating and photography.
Broadford is an excellent base to tour the Isle of Skye. Best to arrive Broadford in evening and overnight then spend next day touring Skye returning to Broadford in the evening. Then next day move on to the Highlands or return to the mainland via ferry from Armadale.
